We spotted the 2013 BMW M5 driving north-bound on the i405, south of LAX. Surprisingly the M5 had camouflage on the front fenders, covering the M5’s signature side vents, as well as on the rear emblem.

Should we call this a spy video? Why the camo? By now, countless videos and pictures are all over every media outlet. Not to mention that BMW officially releases the 2013 M5 in the US-market later on this summer. This maybe BMW’s way of keeping the M5’s beauty exclusive to the release date.

At first, speculation about this being an M550d crossed our minds. After all the M550d sports rectangular exhaust tips similar to the 550i and the 750i vs this M5’s quad M-signature round quad exhaust tips. After all, it was apparent that this 5-Seires is a gasoline powered V8 M5 from the sounds and looks of it.

As mentioned, this M5 sports matte black quad-exhaust tips, blacked out wheels, distinctive lower-door mounted moldings, and an athletic front bumper with huge air-dams. Styling ques hinting of the great athlete underneath, dressed up in an elegant black tuxedo. The M5 is powered by a 4.4L TwinTurbo V8 producing 560hp (418 kW) and 502 lb·ft (681 N·m). The power is transferred to the rear wheels via a 7-speed M-Double Clutch transmission (M-DCT). A 6 speed manual to make it’s way over some time later.
