Germany’s automotive TV show, Grip, puts the original world’s fastest four door sedan to the test against its’ rival. The Cadillac CTS-V.

A new generation of the super luxury sedan, the BMW M5 is here! The F10 M5 is ready to take on all the competition. It is powered by a 4.4L TwinTurbo V8 producing 560hp (418 kW) and 502 lb·ft (681 N·m). A7-speed M-Double Clutch (M-DCT) and a 6 speed manual transmissions are available.

2013 BMW M5 F10 vs 2013 Cadillac CTS-V Sedan drag race video shows two drag races. One with the M5’s advanced launch control being turned off, giving a slight edge to the CTS-V over the M5 at first. Soon after, the M5 recovers from major wheelspin and passes the CTS. Another one with the M5’s launch control activated, blowing the doors off the CTS-V in a straight line.

Quick background. The E60 V10 M5 came to market back in 2005 demolishing all the competition in every performance test. Four years later, Cadillac introduced the current generation CTS-V, equipped with a supercharged 6.2 liter V8, de-tuned from the Corvette ZR1, targeting the M5 directly. The engine produced 556 hp (415 kW) and 551 lb·ft (747 N·m) of torque. In other words, GM had 4 full years to develop an M5 rival and they’ve succeeded power and handling wise.

Cadillac spent many of their development time on the Nürburgring Nordschleife trying to fine tune the CTS-V’s suspension. It even lapped “The Ring” in 7:59.32 equipped with a torque converter automatic transmission. Maybe now they should spend more time developing their interior and ride quality to match that of the new M5.
