The ICA, in partnership with BMW partnered with the ICA and the 2012 London Festival to display artistically painted vehicle through Shoreditch for two weeks, from 21st July until August 4th 2012. BMW will exhibit for the first time in the UK it’s Art Car Collection.
The exhibition is part of the London 2012 Festival, a spectacular 12 week nationwide celebration running until 9 September 2012, joining together leading artists from across the planet in the heart of the UK.

Art Drive on wheels! BMW started the collection over 35 years ago. It features BMW cars that are transformed by several of the world’s leading artists from the likes of Alexander Calder, Frank Stella, and much more… The BMW Art Car Collection started whenever French racing driver and also auctioneer Hervé Poulain invited his friend Alexander Calder in order to design a car which married artistic excellence to ‘an already perfect object’. The end result was actually a racing vehicle that would eventually compete inside the Le Mans 24-hour race with regard to 1975. And also and so the BMW Art Car was born.
